     Well the main encoding was base64 http://home.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/
     and then you have other combinations, including hexa.

     It’s not a totally related to nothing exercise (maybe it seems so at first sight) . A lot of web app use these types of encoding, so that was the purpose of it.
